Elam Wren was born close to the time of the Battle of Yavin. While he was born on Krownest in the Mandalore sector, his family moved several times to different Mandalorian controlled worlds, including Mandalore, Vlemoth Port, and Concord Dawn. Currently, his family splits their time between Krownest and Concord Dawn.

Most of his life since he turned five years old has been spent learning about Mandalorian culture and training, both physical and mental. At the age of six, he began formal combat training, learning basic hand-to-hand and melee skills then moving onto ranged weapons. While all Mandalorians are expected to become proficient in melee combat, Clan Wren has a more specific tradition. Select members of this Clan receive training in a unique fighting style that certain people would recognize as the Form I style of Lightsabre combat, also known as Shii-Cho. Clan tradition states that Sabine Wren passed on the training she received from a Jedi Knight named Kannan Jarrus to several others members of Clan Wren. Since then select individuals who prove they have the self-discipline are taught this form of combat.

Upon reaching the age of eleven, he took part in the annual joint hunt between the Mandalorians and the Talz of Vlemoth Port. From a young age, Elam was very observant. During the hunt, he was able to spot and track prey in nearly blinding heavy snowfall.

Two months after reaching the age of thirteen, Elam was taking part in a sparring session with his older cousin. When his cousin disarmed him, Elam moved back to establish new footing and almost reflexively extended his hand in the direction of the training sword. To everyone’s surprise, including Elam’s, the sword flew from the ground into his hand.

There was much debate in the Leadership of the Clan and House before a representative from the recently established Jedi Praxeum was allowed to test Elam. Elam, his parents, and a member of the House leadership traveled to Coruscant to meet with representatives from the Praxeum. After Elam was tested there was a short discussion, it was decided that he would go to start training when the first class of younglings began.

Elam knows that he is being used by the Mandalorian leadership to garner political favor with the New Republic. However, he is trying to keep an open mind about the experience.

Elam is on the upper end of height for his age, standing 1.4 meters tall. He has an athletic build weighing in at 35 kilograms. He has dark brown hair and emerald green eyes. Elam has several scars from training. His only other notable feature is a blue Jaig Eyes tattoo on his right shoulder, which he received after the hunt on Vlemoth Port.
